Electrical, Control and Instrumentation

Servodyne is the name of my electrical control systems design and consultancy business based in the UK.

The company is the trading name for myself, Nick Hall. Working as a self-employed, sole trader on a contract basis. This could very easily be converted to a Ltd company if required.

I am a Chartered Electrical Engineer with the IET, Institute of Engineering and Technology. I have 20 years experience designing electrical control systems and experience in several different sectors of industry.

7MW low voltage distribution board

I spent 12 years working for ATG who are an electrical based, industrial control systems integrator. I started there as a junior design engineer in the variable speed drives department and later became a project engineer, project manager and eventually the engineering manager.

I left ATG to move to Pilkington to become a senior design engineer in the electrical and control department. While there I was the contract manager for the electrical installation of a £50m glass plant refurbishment project in Melbourne. I also worked on instrumentation and SCADA systems for the main line and did work on all EC&I aspects of the new online coating equipment installed in 2009.

Since then I have been working for The Float Glass Consortium Ltd. as their senior design engineer, working on various glass projects throughout the world. My main focus has been process P&ID design and DCS design/specification for glass coating plants, mainly in China.

Project Services

Most of my experience is in project based work, i.e. working to a deadline and a budget to get new equipment installed and working to the satisfaction of the end user.Operator control station

There are examples of my work on this site, of course I can't include everything I've ever done, but I wanted to give a feel for the range of projects I've worked on.

I've worked in over 20 countries with people from all walks of life and I've added a couple of photo's from outside of work to give some sort of idea what I've been up to.
